For me the tactics have to change at home as it is just not good enough we have played 14 games at home winning 3 drawing 4 and losing 7 scoring just 10 goals and a minus 5 goal difference.

We blame CB and soon it will be MB but the honest answer is we just don’t play to a strikers strengths.

MB face when he saw he was being taken off said it all, for me tonight was a free hit and at 2-1 down we were starting to get on top surely that was the time to bring CB on and go 442 instead we keep the same old tactics then wonder why CB does not score exactly what service did he or MB get tonight.

We have the best Defence outside the top 5 was missing 2 of the normal 4 and then with 10 to go take PVA off why what did this exactly achieve if he had taken PVA off to switch to 3 at the back and to play 2 up top then we would have shown some ambition in trying to force the game instead we stick as we are and still end up losing and conceding another goal.

We need to start letting teams worry about us instead of us continuously worrying about them.

The stats don’t lie something has to change at home the tactics clearly work away from home.

Please Roy you have start Meyer at home as he drives us forward and if we are going to get the best out of CB & MB we have to play them together as 1 up clearly is and has not been working for sometime.

Pretty much agree with this.
Schlupp does some good things but the bad outweigh them and he was at fault for two of the goals last night - at least he certainly had a big say in one and three!
At 2-1 down we could have pushed on and tried - instead CB came on and all movement up front just stopped - the man just stands there and waits for the ball and he waits in areas where he can't possibly receive it - get the man out of our club - whatever the hit!

It was a mistake not playing Kouyate against United with their height and physicality and it will be a mistake if he doesn’t play against Burnley who are very direct and strong on set pieces.
Roy is lauded for his organisation, but I have to say he seems to neglect the basics.

Last time was the 3-0 defeat to Huddersfield.

Wards goal was the first in open play I’ve seen this season by a palace player.

I missed Burnley, Leicester, and Fulham so haven’t seen us win at home yet.

We’ve been awful this season. Not through lack of ability. Or lack or effort. But through complete tactical stupidity.

Schlupp had one of his better games today. But should have been all over Pogba for the entire game, but wasn’t. He’s not got the concentration. Switches to left back. United score straight away. What was the point?

Pundits are continually raving about Mayer. He can’t get a start. He comes on, we score after 5 minutes. What does he have to do to get a start?

Not picking Scott Dann. They have Pogba and Lukaku. Schlupp is left to mark Lukaku at corners. The second goal comes from a corner. We never look like a threat from corners. Why's he on the bench?

At 2-1 down he takes of our striker with 1 goal from 1 start for Benteke (3 goals since August 2017). How’s he suddenly expected to turn the fortunes around in 10 minutes against Manchester United.

Hodgson is a throwback from the Field Marshall Hague school of tactics. If it doesnt work. Try they same thing over and over again.

How long until we can get rid of him. He’s only in the job due to sentiment.

You're not allowed to criticise Croydon Roy, and anyway, at least we, the players, Sean Dyce and the pundits know what's going to happen now. Straight back into training to do exactly the same as the last 200 sessions so that we can play exactly the same next game.

Odd game, we went after them at the start and again when we went 2 nil down but we were run over in midfield. Don't know if it was tactical (needed an extra man) or just physicality (their midfield was enormous and even Fred looks like a brick) but either way that's probably on Roy. Not sure why we didn't just stick a guy on pogba but tbh all the goals were from crap defending so very annoying. Not unexpected but it wasn't great to look so outclassed for the 20 to 70 min mark by a United who seemed in second gear.

There are pros and cons.

Pros:

- Team was balanced and well structured again. Excluding terrible 46-60th min, we blocked Utd as much as possible.

- It was good to re-join to the game after 60th min when it was 0-2.

Cons:

- Simply there is no luxury to make fundamental defensive errors when your opponent has Lukaku, Pogba etc. Everyone already discussed first goal in details. Second goal, we have 3 attempts to touch the ball and we fail and what makes worse is opponent was even not challenged enough. 3 attempts on corner at your box

Third goal, i will share a screenshot at upcoming post which shows Pogba was jogging with the ball when no-one disturbs him. This helped him to organize the play in comfort.

- Although we are balanced and smart while defencing, still there is lack of press and forcing the opponent to make mistake. Usually waiting them to organize. Unfortunately same while we are attacking. There was one moment at first half that one of our players was blocked at sideline and there was no movement in the team and he lost the ball which turned to a counter attack. This changes when Meyer comes in and we come more fluent an unpredictable.

I never had feeling that injuries would impact Utd as they still have decent players. While criticizing fundamental defensive errors, i can say their top-class finishes can not be ignored.

I am confident that we will have a secure March based on the play we showed against Utd yesterday as long as we respect to fundamentals

BBC says Benteke made a foul on keeper, I was there but I cant recall him doing that and all around me said independently.. that was an own goal. Did Benteke foul or was it Atkinson guess work?

How come Atkinson doesn't book Sanchez for diving?
Then Luka injured holding his head, when utd break away and get free edge of our penalty area, Atkinson isn't bothered LUKA is still on the floor... hes marking out for the free kick..... their keeper gets tangled in net briefly and Atkinson runs over to check on him????

BBC were confused too.

This is a snapshot of Pogba`s status before 3rd goal. It was right front of me and at that moment i already started shouting to point alone man who scored the goal few seconds after

There are 5 players (yes some of them are defending the area) around Pogba and neither of them are closer than 4-5 meters. So in 10 seconds we let Pogba and Young to be lonely boys around the box and result is not hard to guess.

A very disappointing result against Man Utd who were ravaged by injuries.I accept that they didn't have a bad team on the pitch but I think that only 6 of the starting eleven have been regulars this season, so to lose 1-3 at home after that wonderful result at Leicester was a real let-down.Pre-match I felt we could get something from the game and maybe Man Utd felt that it was easier for them than they expected.

Team selection and substitutions have been a bone of contention all season. They were exemplified today following the arrival and subsequent improved fitnesss levels of Batshuyai.
Taking off McArthur for Meyer was a very sound substitution not made before time. It not only transformed us into a powerful dangerous machine that soon led to a very well worked goal but also brought into question yet again why we do not give significantly more field time to one of our most expensive extraornarily talented players. Meyer’s arrival on the pitch instantly transformed us into a very well balanced fast moving slick team constantly threatening the opposition goal.
To then remove Batshuyai was at the very least confusing, but immediately de powered our threat. To follow that substitution with what had to be one of the most bizarre switches this season by pulling off van Arnott for Kouyate expecting Schlupp to instantly switch his thinking process from midfield to left back instantly resulted in acres of space allowing the very annoying yet talented Ashley Young to sweep through and end the game.
So we very successfully turned our team into a potent goal scoring threat for 15 minutes before inexplicably de powering us with the removal of our very energetic loanee for the inclusion of our totally impotent Benteke followed by the Kouyate, van A, Schlupp debacle.
Bizarre to say the least. Confusing, questionable and oh so Palace as we threw away such a great opportunity to rinse the sickly pink shirts from Manchester and end their exceptional revival under Solskjaer.

I do agree - bringing Benteke on would work if we were going to go long to him, but we didn't, and looked most effective moving the ball quickly on the floor. The PVA substitution was inexplicable except as a convoluted way to keep Schlupp on the pitch... worrying that a player of his questionable quality is now considered a must-play by Roy.

The way I saw it at the time was that we already went into the game with Ward and Kelly who of course are not regulars so there was a change in the back four.To compound this by taking another regular out of defence was somewhat perplexing.
