Workplaces can become toxic with a few dynamic characters. Cake is a way of trying to placate the reactionary elements of the workforce, who don't take kindly to being exploited.
Call it a feeble attempt at "Team Bonding", to try and gloss over the bigger 'issues' in the working environment.

I have been placated by Victoria Sponges and flapjacks etc but once the raspberry jam or golden syrup wears off I'm nobody's fool, or mousse for that matter. And private v public?
