Keep up.

The votes still to be counted are all postal votes. Votes that Trump did his utmost to ensure were counted late and now wants to throw out because they are.

Those votes come from areas which skew heavily to Biden, hence Trump's mischief. Whilst the BBC are being cautious and saying 243 ec votes are Biden's, Fox isn't and has it at 264, just 6 short.

Biden is a shoe-in now. He is 6-1 on with the bookies.

It's what happens next that now becomes more interesting.

Then get down the bookies and lump on him if he can’t lose. The point remains that with 4% to count in Georgia, 5% in N Carolina and 11% in Pennsylvania Trump is still ahead in all three. Biden will quite probably win but it hardly represents the wholesale rejection of Trump or his policies which was predicted and had it not been for Covid the result may have been different.

Bet on Trump, cashed out for modest profit, skullduggery all over the place

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

The BBC is respected and their figure more reliable.

The Guardian has Biden at 264 I thought great he only need a few more, but they are 'calls'.

If we think of democracy, then the most votes should win, Biden would be President on that by far.

But the 'college' system that alters the vote according to where it comes from, well I ask you.

Add in political appointments of judges and all that power in one man, a virtual dictator.

'close down China' well how must China be looking at the USA now.

If that's democracy, thank God we haven't got it !

No chance. I am not a betting man, even if this does now look a foregone conclusion. I follow Nate Silver at 538, who always appears to me to be the most objective analyst on US politics. He ran a huge bunch of possible result scenarios which suggested what we are seeing as the most likely outcome, with a Biden landslide and a Trump victory about even, at having a 10% chance each. He though stressed that 10% doesn't mean any chance at all.

That a significant minority still feel Trump is the right choice is both sad and quite disturbing. Disturbing because too many there continue to be locked into the mindset that they are frontiersmen building a new nation out of nothing. That self-reliance, and not collective responsibility, is the only way forward. This isn't the way modern democracies progress in today's world.

It's obviously changing and will continue to change but this divide will be there for many years. I have heard some Trump supporters trying to justify what's happening. One, a member of the House, made comments on the situation which were unintelligible to me. It was if she lived in a parallel universe.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

Sky are reporting Trump will make a “major announcement” at 4.30 UK time.

Agreed. China will test the new US Government on this. It's 2021's Black Swan.

Just saw on sky news the trump supporters outside a town hall where they were counting votes shouting- "stop the count- stop the count"! Priceless- the land of the free- except when it comes to democracy! Did have a few beers in the night enjoying the news, although nothing much happened, but got an extra buzz thinking of all those red necks driving around in their trucks armed to the teeth with a confederate flag on the back, they must be going stir crazy! Apparently, the stores around the bible belt have had run on chewy bacca!

Although i"m not a trump fan- except the american apprentice where he was very good- we could have learned a lesson from him and his followers had it being the last election. After punch scored in the final 10 minutes of the cup final, we should have chanted-"stop the game- stop the game"! who knew?
