I do think to an extent this is missing the point.

I do think he needs to understand that it is not the results that most people are unhappy with, it's the performances. Brighton are below us (for now) but I doubt many of their fans are complaining given how they are playing. Are there any fans that want to see us play this way for another year? Not too worried about the 'Ambition' and 'kicking on' - just stopping the decline. We're not in a position to Kick on *anymore.

It seems to me that without a change somewhere, not necessarily changing of the manager, relegation Is imminent.
I do get the feeling from that Article that hodgson feels as though his hands are tied somewhat though.

Who else could have done what he has done with such meagre resources? But he's not bothered either way he says. The bar is set low, survival is all that matters. 11th, 12th, 14th, and probably 16th or 17th this season, so yes Roy, you've fulfilled your mission.

What Hodgson is saying, and citing Curbishley as an example, is that instead of complaining we should be cheering his stewardship of the team. Who else could have done what he has done with such meagre resources? But he's not bothered either way he says.
The bar is set low, survival is all that matters.
11th, 12th, 14th, and probably 16th or 17th this season, so yes Roy, you've fulfilled your mission.

Roy, is being totally realistic, in the independent today.. Not that he has ever not been . He stated from the start , of his tenure, that we needed to invest in the team ,if we were to progress . He is constant, but unfortunately under investment in the team has remained constant also. It’s become part and parcel of football to think if a club doesn’t progress it must be the coach, or managers fault. If the ingredients for success have actually been supplied, that may be a valid call, but in Hodgsons case it’s absolutely clear that hasn’t happened. A manager is not much more than the conductor of an orchestra, and if his players keep hitting bum notes it’s because they are not up to it, not because he can not conduct. This run on Hodgson , would hold water if the club was set up for progress beyond its present status. Its absolutely obvious it isn’t.

You are quoting my words out of their context. I HAVEN'T Said that there's no-one out there who couldn't do better than Hodgson per se. I said there's unlikely to be another manager out there who could get better results OVER THE NEXT FEW GAMES (i.e. whilst our injury crisis continues) and obviously, any manager out there would have to be available to come into the club at short notice. You seem to have totally ignored the rest of my post which makes it quite clear that I'm not someone who's backing Hodgson to the hilt. The truth is ,if you lose more often than win, and find yourself , constantly the poor relation. The fans are not happy.
The accusation is the team is either boring or to soft. It’s never, none of this matters as we are so good.
The only times fans are really happy is when the team wins often, how is never more than secondary . And it’s been my experience, that applies no matter which division you happen to be in.
