Great to see him coming back into form - when he's playing well he's a joy to watch.
Apologies if this has come up before but why was he not awarded the goal on Saturday? The ball obviously went in off the keeper but shots get deflected in off defenders all the time and aren't put down as own goals. A minor point but it would have been nice for him to get the recognition.

Because but for it bouncing off of the keeper it wouldn't have gone in the back of the net.

Deflections only count for the shooter if they were already going in before they took the deflection.

But yes I agree, he was a joy to watch. We're going to need to see more of that in the next few games while Wilf is injured.

Yep, it's a pity he wasn't awarded the goal, but antipodeagle is right about the reason why not.

Eze is a class player and his football is a delight to watch. He shone on Saturday and we saw him back to how we all remembered him last year. I'd love to know what was said to him pre match.

Not only is he a lovely footballer, he seems like a very grounded and pleasant bloke.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Fair enough but it's a shame, especially since those responsible for such decisions seem to bend over backwards to avoid own goals.

Easily our most gifted footballer.

Unlucky not to get another goal with that low shot saved well.

He needs to play centrally, and we need to give him the ball as often as we can.

It was interesting to hear Roy say in his post-match press conference that he and Dougie persuaded Parish to buy Eze and that Eze owed him (Roy) for having put his neck on the line to persuade the club to buy him. I say that because many thought that Hodgson didn't want him when it took him a while to play him. Eze knew that Roy would have his back so-to-speak and it showed in the freedom he had and played with on Saturday.

On Saturday, Eze was firing on all four. I have never seen him play like that before in a Palace shirt.

It was like watching a trapped bird set free. He was majestic.

The same can be said for all of the players who just seemed to make it look so much easier.

Agree. Absolutely agree.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Once he starts running at teams in parts of the pitch where they can’t bring him down he looks a different player. He was operating too deep under Vieira and it was easy to foul him and reset defensively. He made two classic runs on Saturday that got the defence absolutely scared out their wits. That’s where he needs to operate.
