The question now is should we sign a 30 year old winger that wouldn't get a regular game in any side in the top 6-7 teams in the country and pay him £200K a week on a 4 year deal . If his name was not Wilfried Zaha every person on here to a man would say we would be mad to .

It does strike me as odd that so far as we can tell no big English clubs have come in for him. For all the talk of his waning powers 2022 was one of his most productive years with 14 goals (eighth in the PL for the calendar year). The start of the last season he was looking in great shape (6 goals and 2 assists in first 13 games). He struggled to rediscover that form after the WC but that was partly due to injury. A fully-fit Wilf is still a massive player for us, but I do think if he does sign a new deal then he has to be managed better in terms of giving his body a rest. He often seems willing to play through minor injuries which while commendable is not good for his longer term health and fitness. Although his antics can be annoying the one thing I've never doubted is his commitment on the field. He clearly just wants to play football and win.
