Palace v Bradford City

Selhurst Park, Tuesday 8.00pm

Andy Johnson

Andy Johnson

Team news

Andy Johnson could return to the Palace side following a neck injury sustained at Preston on Saturday.

He was stretchered off just before half-time after falling akwardly and the injury was not as bad as the club had first feared.

If he fails to fully recover, Tommy Black or Stephen Kabba are likely to replace him in attack alongside Dougie Freedman.

Bradford defender Gus Uhlenbeek should keep his place in the side, but Robert Molenaar is doubtful.

Bradford will be looking to break their Selhurst hoodoo and gain revenge for Palace doing the double over them last season.

Despite their financial problems, they do still have some good players. David Wetherall is a strong, experienced centre half, Ashley Ward is a threat and new signing Paul Evans from Brentford is also a good player.

The former Leeds defender was the man who kept Bradford in the Premiership with his goal against Liverpool a few seasons back and is a firm favourite with the fans at Valley Parade.

A solid centre back who is extremely strong in the air, Wetherall is dangerous on set pieces and scores the majority of his goals with bullet headers from crosses or corners.

If Palace are to conquer the Bantams on Tuesday, the man they need to get past is Wetherall, the linchpin for the City defence.
