December 2 2003

Kit Symons

Kit Symons will remain as caretaker-boss until at least January.

Symons is unbeaten in his four games in charge and chief Simon Jordan has been delighted with his efforts.

Jordan said: "I have been pleased with the way Kit has grasped this opportunity and of course with the results he has achieved. He has earned the right to stake a claim for the role on a permanant basis.

"Given the size and expectations of the job it is appropriate that a considered amount of time is taken to ensure the best full time appointment can be made to match the unrelenting demands of Premier League football in the immediate future."
