Dougie Freedman fired Palace to a 2-1 victory over Ipswich reserves, at Portman Road.

His two goals earned Palace their first win of the new Premiership Reserve League South season.

The Eagles marksman gave his side the lead after just six minutes with a shot from inside the area that went in off the post.

Finnish international striker Shefki Kuqi then set up Scott Barron to level the scores afterwards.

But it was the Eagles who had the last laugh and Freedman netted the winning goal in the 83rd minute after a run down the left, he scored at the near post.

Ecuadorian trialist striker Ivan Kaviedes showed some good touches for Palace and should sign on a season-long loan this week.

Palace: Wilkinson; Wilson, Simpson (Williams 65), Togwell, El-Salahi (Conroy 18), Black, Derry (Berry 46), Watson, Soares, Freedman, Kaviedes. Subs not used: Banks, Symons.
