Preston 1-1 Palace

January 28 2006

Andy Johnson

Andy Johnson

Palace's 4th round FA Cup tie against Preston North End ended in a 1-1 draw.

Andrew Johnson opened the scoring for Palace on 8 minutes. Hesitation in the Preston defence allowed the England striker to pounce on a pass from Mikele Leigertwood, and fire past ex-Palace keeper Carlo Nash.

Preston equalised on 27 minutes through Brian O'Neil's looping header from a cross by Graham Alexander.

The result means that Palace will now play Preston at home in a replay. The Eagles also play Preston next Tuesday in the league.
