Crystal Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni has agreed to sign a new contract with the club.

The Argentine, 28, is a contender for Player of the Year after some fine displays in the Eagles goal this season.

Speroni's deal was up in the summer but he has decided to pen a three-year contract that will keep him at Selhurst Park until 2011.

Manager Neil Warnock said: "He hasn't signed it yet but we shook hands on it after the game.

"He's done really well for me and the club have done well by him. I don't know if he's the best in the Championship, but I wouldn't swap him for anybody in our division.

"He's been part of an excellent back five this season."
