The Football League
While the Champions League returns on Tuesday night Crystal Palace find themselves making the trip to table-topping Wolves, writes Danny Hayes.
Not quite the exotic destination that the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal will be jetting off to this week, but an important fixture if the Eagles can maintain some momentum in justifying their pre-season odds as one of the favourites for a play-off berth.
The victory over Swansea on Saturday was much needed, and while it was fully deserved, a huge deal of gratitude lays with keeper Julian Speroni who had another fine performance between the sticks. The Argentinean has become one of our most consistent performers but he will have to be at his very best against Wolves.
They have what Palace can only dream of at the moment, an embarrassment of riches in front of goal as eight goals in their last two games testifies too. However they are vulnerable at the back and Palace will set out to frustrate the Molineux side and try to nick a goal on the break.
Considering we up our game against the better footballing sides and Saturday’s victory was a step in the right direction I’m willing to take a punt on us leaving Wolves with a point.
