Team news

On-loan defender Claude Davis faces two weeks out with a thigh problem. With Matt Lawrence a doubt due to a hamstring injury and Paddy McCarthy still out with his dislocated shoulder, it means Lee Hills is likely to come in at left-back so Clint Hill can partner Jose Fonte in the centre of defence.

Barnsley's Stephen Foster returns after a ban, but Andranik Temouriyan serves a three-game suspension. Anderson De Silva is back in the squad after being absent due to compassionate leave.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"We have to win most games now to have any chance of making the play-offs and we have to win these two games I would say. If we don't then we just start looking to next season.

"Alan Lee had a bit of a calf injury but he is fit now. At the moment I am just going with different people. Matt Lawrence hurt his hamstring and is about a week away, he has just started some light work."

Simon Davey

"I take responsibility for the position we are in. They're all my signings, I pick the team and I decide on the tactics, and where we finish in the table at the end of the season is down to me. I believe in my players and I know we will stay in this division.

"I have a great relationship with the chairman and he came to see me after the game on Saturday and told me not to worry, and I thank him for that."
