Team news

Crystal Palace will have to make do without the services of skipper Shaun Derry after the midfielder picked up a foot injury in Saturday's loss to Cardiff.

Derry is due to undergo surgery on a shoulder problem on Wednesday so will have played his last game this season. Youngster James Comley or Neil Danns - if he has recovered from his groin injury - are ready to replace him.

Southampton midfielder Simon Gillett's knee injury forces him out for the remainder of the season and the Saints will also be missing injured players Michael Svensson (Achilles), centre-back Wayne Thomas (knee), midfielder Anthony Pulis (foot) and striker Jamie White (ankle).

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Shaun Derry got a nasty kick on his instep [against Cardiff on Saturday]. Some studs caught him. I'll be very surprised if he plays after looking at his foot and there isn't really any point if he's having the operation on Wednesday."

Mark Wotte

"We need everyone to back us and support us. I think that with the fans behind us we will go for the three points and attack Crystal Palace wherever we can and make sure that we get ourselves back into the confidence zone and pick up the three points.

"We have to really start thinking for each game that it might be the last game of the season. We know we need to win and the players all want to win on Monday."
