Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle has confirmed that 29 non-playing staff members at Crystal Palace have been made redundant.
The club have already told staff that wages for May are going to be delayed, and with little revenue coming into the club during the close season, Guilfoyle is struggling match the expenditure.
Guilfoyle told Sky Sports News: "In quite simple terms I'm out of cash and it's the end of the month and people are expected to be paid and I've had to inform the staff that I'm not currently in a position to pay them.
"I also need to make redundancies as I move forward into June. I need to reduce the amount of pay so a large number of people have been made redundant today.
"It's not over, but the club is on a knife-edge. I'm not funded and at this time of year there's very little income coming into the club but there's still a lot of expenditure going out in terms of wages.
"I'm juggling with all those difficulties."
Guilfoyle remarked that he is in a difficult situation at the moment, and revealed there was general co-operation with the decisions he has made.
"There were small elements of anger but generally I empathise with people," he added. "It's most unpleasant to send people home to tell their friends and family that they've got no money and really a lot of uncertainty as to when they're going to get any money.
"All I can do is explain the facts. I think they recognise that everybody's doing their best in a difficult situation. They've been magnificent and they're hoping for developments."
