Crystal Palace moved out of the relegation zone after claiming a 1-1 draw at Watford.

Played in heavy fog at Vicarage Road, the hosts took a 10th minute lead through Andreas Weimann. Andros Townsend cut in from the left and crossed to Weimann who volleyed past Julian Speroni.

Watford looked like adding another but Darren Ambrose hit back for the Eagles, forcing keeper Scott Loach into a good save.

Palace had claims for a penalty turned down when James Vaughan went down in the box.

But the Eagles were on level terms five minutes before the interval. Vaughan collected the ball from Neil Danns and he powered his way past Adrian Mariappa before smashing the ball into the back of the net for his sixth of the season.

Mariappa went close to scoring for the Hornets, while in the second half Danns almost converted Wilfried Zaha's cross.

Speroni made a fine save to deny John Eustace's shot from outside the area and late on, his effort was cleared of the goal line as Palace earned a vital point in their bid to avoid the drop.
