Palace slump to another away loss

Crystal Palace's travel sickness continued with a 1-0 defeat at Burnley.

Palace sank to their 14th away loss of the season and are further embroiled in a battle to stay up as they sit just one place above the drop zone.

Lewis Price replaced injured No.1 Julian Speroni in goal for his Eagles debut and his first touch of the ball was picking it out of the net in the third minute.

Winger Ross Wallace had already blasted wide for the hosts before striker Jay Rodriguez slammed a right-foot shot into the top left-hand corner from 25 yards.

David Wright fired over the bar for Palace and Wallace blasted a similar effort off target. Burnley could have gone further in front as Rodriguez nodded wide of the goal and Wallace spooned over from six yards.

Rodriguez saw two attempts fly over the bar, while Price made a decent save to keep out Jack Cork's header.

Chris Iwelumo and Wallace again threatened the Palace goal but Palace could have nicked a point near the end.

Darren Ambrose had a 25-yard free-kick pushed over by Clarets keeper Lee Grant and Paddy McCarthy headed over the bar when well placed.
