Crystal Palace virtually secured their Championship status after a 1-0 win at home to Leeds.

Neil Danns scored the decisive goal after just 80 seconds to give the Eagles maximum points and dent Leeds' play-off chances.

The win pushes Palace six points above the relegation zone with a superior goal difference after rivals Preston and Scunthorpe lost, while Doncaster drew.

Danns gave Palace a dream start by lashing a shot into the bottom corner through a sea of legs from the edge of the penalty area.

After that the best chance of the first half fell to Jermaine Easter who headed Nathaniel Clyne's cross wide of the target.

Leeds up the pressure in the second half without troubling Julian Speroni in the Palace goal.

The visitors piled forward in search of a goal but the home side defending brilliantly and held firm to claim maximum points even though Danns got a second yellow card and his marching orders in stoppage time.
