Ten-man Crystal Palace ended the campaign with a 3-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest.

Palace started brightly but fell behind in the 17th minute after Anthony Gardner's weak header out landed at the feet of Lewis McGugan who fired a powerful shot past Julian Speroni.

Eight minutes later, the Eagles were reduced to 10 men after left-back Dean Moxey was sent off for a high tackle on Marcus Tudgay.

Forest doubled their advantage in the 69th minute when Tudgay nodded Brendan Moloney's right wing cross home.

And the scoring was complete in the 80th minute after David McGoldrick found space to blast in a rocket shot beyond Speroni to secure Forest's spot in the play-offs.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, McCarthy, Gardner, Moxey, Ambrose, Danns, Wright (Zaha 71), Agustien, Counago (Davis 27), Easter (Scannell 61).

Not Used: Price, Garvan, Cadogan, O'Keefe.

Forest: Camp (Darlow 74), Gunter, Chambers, Morgan, Moloney, Anderson, McGugan, Moussi (McKenna 61), Cohen, Boyd (McGoldrick 68), Tudgay.

Not Used: Adebola, McCleary, Majewski, Bennett.
