Palace inch towards play-offs

Crystal Palace limped closer to confirming their place in the play-offs with a 1-1 draw at Blackburn.

They now need a win from their final two games against Millwall and Peterborough to confirm their spot in the top six.

However, their opponents are both languishing in the bottom five and will need victory themselves in order to stay up.

Palace started well by taking the lead at Ewood Park through Stephen Dobbie in the 28th minute. The on-loan striker picked up Aaron Wilbraham's flick-on from a long ball up field and neatly fired past Grant Hanley to score.

Three minutes before the break, Blackburn were on terms through Jordan Rhodes who latched onto Joshua King's pass to lift the ball over Julian Speroni from a tight angle.

Eagles top scorer Glenn Murray smashed the crossbar in the 52nd minute and eight minutes later Mile Jedinak clipped the top of the bar from Dobbie's corner.

The point ensured Blackburn's safety in the division, while Palace are nervously looking over their shoulders at Bolton, Nottingham Forest and Leicester for the remaining play-off places.
