Crystal Palace lost their sixth game of the season, losing 3-1 to Liverpool.

Ian Holloway made a few changes to the team that lost at Southampton.

Kagisho Dikgacoi and Danny Gabbidon were out injured, so Stuart O'Keefe and Damien Delaney came in to replace them.

Jason Puncheon returned to the midfield after being ineligible for selection against the Saints, and Cameron Jerome was favoured up front instead of Dwight Gayle.

Liverpool took a stranglehold of the game in the first half. Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge particularly dangerous for the home side, and within 17 minutes Palace found themselves 2-0 down through a goal apiece from the SAS partnership.

Nine minutes before the half time whistle, Dean Moxey was harshly adjudged to have pull back Raheem Sterling inside the box and Liverpool were given a penalty.

Steven Gerrard placed the ball past Julian Speroni from the spot to make it 3-0.

At half time Holloway opted to bring on Gayle for Jerome and Jose Campana for Jimmy Kebe.

In the second half Palace did much better and got a goal back on 76 minutes through Gayle, flicking a header towards goal from a free kick by Campana that a returning Yannick Bolasie won near the touchline.

Sturridge almost made it four in the closing minutes, hitting the post, but the game ended in a 3-1 defeat.

Palace: Speroni, Moxey, Mariappa, Ward, Delaney, Puncheon, O'Keefe, Jedinak, Chamakh (Bolasie, 68), Jerome (Gayle, 45), Kebe (Campana, 45)

Subs not used: Inniss, Price, Guedioura, Phillips
