Fraizer Campbell
A goal for Fraizer Campbell was not enough for Crystal Palace as they were defeated 1-2 by Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
Brede Hangeland replaced an injured Scott Dann in defence alongside Damien Delaney.
Chelsea were missing top scorer Diego Costa, who was replaced by Loic Remy.
Oscar put Chelsea 1-0 up after only six minutes, curling a brilliant free kick past Julian Speroni.
Campbell had a chance to equalise after evading Gary Cahill but his touch to lob the ball over Thibaut Courtois just went over the bar.
Things heated up somewhat on 40 minutes when Cesar Azpilicueta was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Mile Jedinak
Three minutes later Chelsea were let off the hook though when Delaney brought down Remy and referee Craig Pawson showed the former Ipswich defender a second yellow card and sent him for an early bath.
In the second half Chelsea extended their lead through a flowing passing move which ended in Cesc Fabregas scoring his first goal for the Blues.
In the 90th minute Campbell got on the end of a Wilfried Zaha cross to make it 2-1 but it was too late for the Eagles to master an equaliser.
Palace: Speroni, Hangeland, Ward, Kelly, Delaney (s/o 43), Ledley (Mariappa, 58), McArthur (Zaha, 69), Jedinak, Puncheon (Guedioura, 69), Campbell, Bolasie
Subs not used: Doyle, Gayle, Hennessey, Chamakh
