Selhurst Park
Wasteful Crystal Palace were defeated 1-0 at home to Aston Villa.
Despite dominating the match from the start against a poor Villa side, Neil Warnock's men failed to make their chances count and were punished.
Christian Benteke curled low into the bottom corner from 18 yards in the 32nd minute after Scott Dann lost the ball on the touchline.
It was only Villa's eighth goal of the campaign - the Premier League's lowest scorers - and they ended a nine-match winless run.
Palace started so well but were guilty too often of terrible crossing and finishing, unable to find the target despite 17 attempts on goal.
The Eagles have now won just twice in nine league home games and remain just two points above the relegation zone.
Palace: Speroni, Kelly (Puncheon 89), Dann, Hangeland, Ward, Zaha, Jedinak, McArthur, Bolasie, Chamakh, Gayle (Campbell 46).
Not used: Hennessey, Thomas, Fryers, Bannan, Boateng.
Villa: Guzan, Hutton, Okore, Clark, Cissokho, Cleverley (Richardson 90), Westwood, Agbonlahor, Cole (Sanchez 9), Weimann, Benteke.
Not used: Herd, N’Zogbia, Given, Lowton, Grealish. Booked: Clark, Weimann.
