Crystal Palace continued their resurgence under Alan Pardew with a 1-0 win at Leicester City.

Joe Ledley scored the decisive goal with a second half header to help Palace move six points above the drop zone.

The home team had slightly the better first half with Julian Speroni saving from Riyadh Mahrez's low-angled drive.

In the 27th minute, the Algerian's in-swinging corner was headed onto the bar by striker Kevin Nugent. Then Speroni was alert to parry a Jeff Schlupp effort.

Just before the break, Eagles centre half Scott Dann clashed headd with Wes Morgan and Dann was replaced for the second period by Brede Hangeland.

It was Hangeland who assisted Palace's goal in the 55th minute by heading back Dwight Gayle's corner at the far post for Ledley to nod home his second of the season.

Two minutes later, Ledley almost handed Leicester an equaliser with a shocking back pass which was picked up by Leonardo Ulloa who pulled back for Esteban Cambiasso who muffed his shot.

The Foxes dominated the remainder of the game and Palace had to thank Speroni who twice saved from sub Jamie Vardy.

Leicester: Schwarzer, Simpson (Vardy 78), Wasilewski, Morgan, Konchesky; Schlupp (Albrighton 66), Cambiasso, James, Mahrez, Nugent (Kramaric 71) Ulloa.

Not used: De Laet, Drinkwater, King, Hamer.

Palace: Speroni, Ward, Dann (Hangeland 46), Delaney, Kelly, Puncheon, Mutch (Sanogo 46), McArthur, Ledley, Zaha, Gayle (Guedioura 78).

Not used: Mariappa, Campbell, Hennessey, Murray.

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson: "It was a game that we had chances and to come away with nothing is quite tough for us.

"We had plenty of good situations while Palace did not create too much. It's frustrating we can't turn performances into results."

Palace manager Alan Pardew: "Nigel will be disappointed not get something out the game but it was a good away performance. Leicester City have good players, their wide players certainly caused us problems. We should have seen the game out more comfortably.

"I think the changes at half-time helped us, because Brede Hangeland came on and was a colossus at the back and he was significant for the goal."
