Crystal Palace lose their second game on the bounce - defeated 1-0 by Leicester City at the King Power stadium.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew was forced to make changes to the starting lineup with Adrian Mariappa replacing an injured Pape Souare at left back, and Frazier Campbell replaced Dwight Gayle up front, who was suspended for one game after his sending off against West Ham United.

Bakery Sako was given a starting place, with Wilfried Zaha taking a place on the bench.

Jason Puncheon almost nicked a goal for Palace in the first minute, but couldn't quite reach the ball in the box.

Chances were at a premium in the first half after that, but Leicester almost made the break through in the 8th minute when Marc Albrighton's great run and shot rebounded off the post, into the path of Riyad Mahrez, but he dragged his shot wide of Wayne Hennessey's right hand post.

The second half wasn't much better of a spectacle, but it was in the 59th minute when the game changed for the worse for the Eagles.

Brede Hangeland with time and space in Palace's own half delivered a shocking pass which went straight to Mahrez, who then slotted a delightful ball through to the in-form Jamie Vardy who dinked the ball over an on rushing Hennessey, and slammed the ball into the roof of the net.

Bakary Sako saw a shot well saved by Kasper Schmeichel while Scott Dann's header was cleared off the line by Christian Fuchs in the 78th minute.

Zaha was booked for simulation in the 87th minute, although it did look as if there was contact with Fuchs and another referee could have been quite easily given a penalty.

Despite four minutes of injury time, Palace were unable to conjure up an equaliser, and the three points went to the home side.

Palace will be looking to end a run of defeats when they play Manchester City next Wednesday in the league cup.

Speaking after the game Pardew told the press: "We've made one mistake and it's been costly.

"We were better second half and certainly deserved something from the game.

"It was a tight game, Leicester weren't really going anywhere and it was a mistake that cost us the game.

"I thought we did a pretty good job today."
