Zaha: Performed brilliantly against his former club

Crystal Palace played out a 0-0 draw against Manchester United at Selhurst Park.

Eagles boss Alan Pardew was able to call upon the services of James McArthur and Yohan Cabaye again in midfield, after the pair were missing from the 5-1 defeat to Manchester City in midweek.

Joel Ward returned to the starting XI, playing left back with Martin Kelly playing on the right side of defence.

The Eagles were in control of the game in the first 15 minutes, and were unlucky not to go ahead through Yannick Bolasie, who hit the crossbar with a shot.

Soon after Scott Dann had a chance with a header which was tipped over the bar by David de Gea.

United started to take more control of the game during the remainder of the first half.

Wayne Rooney had a free kick in the 25th minute which was comfortably palmed away by Wayne Hennessey.

Rooney also had a chance from a Anthony Martial throughball, but Hennessey was there again to kick the ball into safety.

At half time Pardew switched Palace's two full backs, with Joel Ward looking to cancel out the threat of Martial, after Martin Kelly picked up a booking in the first half.

The Eagles did really well in the second half and had more chances to win the game.

Cabaye had a great chance towards the end, after meeting a cross from Ward, but his volley went wide of the far post.

Dann then had another glorious chance from a Cabaye corner, but his header went inches past the post.

All in all a good point for Palace, but could have and probably should have been all three points.

Alan Pardew: "We should have won. It was an excellent performance from us - as good as we have been all year.

"United - and it doesn't happen very often - were probably fortunate to get a point.

"It was a shame we didn't win it but with the run we've been on we needed to take something, so the point was important for us. We got back to the real Crystal Palace today."
