Team news

Crystal Palace's on-loan striker on-loan striker Loic Remy faces up to eight weeks out with an ankle problem. Yohan Cabaye is a doubt due to a groin injury but fellow midfielder James McArthur should be fit. New buy Mathieu Flamini is lacking match fitness and won't feature.

Middlesbrough trio George Friend, Marten de Roon and Valdes are all available for selection after recovering from injuries. James Husband, Grant Leadbitter and Fabio da Silva out missing for Boro. New recruits Callum Chambers and Adama Traore could make their debuts.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"It is obviously a blow for the [Loic Remy] and for us as a squad, he has just joined us and we were hoping he would play a big part in the team moving forward. He was looking great in training and this was an innocuous injury which can sometimes happen unfortunately."

"Momentum is very important for every team who hasn't won a game yet. It's hard to win. Getting a win early would be good for us.

"We've got to start winning some games and this is an opportunity to win our first away game."

Aitor Karanka

"We have shown that we are ready for this league. We are playing at home where we are really good, so we have to go to the pitch confident.

"We have started really well but we can't get carried away because we know how difficult this league is.

"Crystal Palace are experienced and have a good manager, but we have to focus on ourselves and play in our style."

"It is going to be a tough game, especially when Crystal Palace are not in a good way. They have very good forwards, and they will be doing everything to add points.

"In one or two weeks, everything can change so we have to forget the past and focus on the next game."
