Crystal Palace's good run of form came to a halt after a 1-0 defeat at home to West Ham United.
Alan Pardew's side went into the London derby with just one defeat in the last seven matches in all competitions but could not see off West Ham who move out of the bottom three with this win.
The East Londoners opened the scoring after 19 minutes when Manuel Lanzini put away Aaron Cresswell's low cross from the left.
Christian Benteke then wasted a glorious chance to get Palace back in the game after Angelo Ogbonna took him down in the area for a penalty just before the break. The Belgian then spooned the spot-kick over the bar.
There was still time before the interval for Benteke to nod against the bar - much to the despair of the Palace fans at Selhurst Park.
Pardew brought on Yohan Cabaye and Zeki Fryers for the second period in an attacking ploy that almost paid off as the Eagles put the Hammers under intense pressure.
But despite West Ham losing Cresswell to two debatable yellow cards within 51 seconds, Palace could not make the extra man count.
Palace: Mandanda, Ward, Delaney, Tomkins, Kelly (Fryers 46), McArthur (Wickham 70), Ledley (Cabaye 46), Zaha, Puncheon, Townsend, Benteke.
Not used: Hennessey, Sako, Lee, Campbell.
West Ham: Adrian, Kouyate, Ogbonna, Reid, Antonio, Obiang, Noble, Cresswell, Lanzini (Nordtveit 88), Payet (Fernandes 79), Zaza (Calleri 86).
Not used: Spiegel, Collins, Feghouli, Fletcher.
