Eagles battle back for point

Crystal Palace recovered from two goals down to draw 2-2 at home to Leicester City.

The hard-fought point takes Palace to 35 points and helps edge them closer to manager Sam Allardyce's target of 38 for safety with six games left to play.

But the Eagles got off to an awful start by conceding after just six minutes as slack marking allowed Robert Huth all the time in the world to head home Christian Fuchs' throw-in on the left.

Kasper Schmeichel denied a good opportunity from Christian Benteke, and despite dominating possession, Palace could not unpick the Leicester defence led by an impressive Huth.

Seven minutes after the break, the Foxes stole an unlikely lead with a classic counter-attack goal scored by Jamie Vardy.

Riyad Mahrez set Vardy free and he easily turned Jeffrey Schlupp before curling in a shot that Wayne Hennessey should have dealt with.

Palace pulled a goal back two minutes later when Schlupp's cross from the left was deflected by Danny Simpson into Cabaye's path and the midfield ace swept beyond Schmeichel.

And the Eagles showed great spirit to grab a deserved equaliser on 70 minutes after Andros Townsend's delivery from the left wing saw Benteke rise above defender Yohan Benalouane to nod in.

Palace: Hennessey, Ward, Sakho, Kelly, Schlupp (Van Aanholt 67), Cabaye, Milivojevic, Zaha (McArthur 83), Puncheon, Townsend, Benteke.

Not used: Speroni, Delaney, Flamini, Sako, Campbell.

Leicester: Schmeichel, Simpson, Huth, Benalouane (Chilwell 76), Fuchs, Mahrez (Gray 75), King (Drinkwater 64), Ndidi, Albrighton, Ulloa, Vardy.

Not used: Zieler, Amartey, Okazaki, Musa.
