Crystal Palace lost this London derby 1-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

Christian Eriksen's wonderful strike from 30 yards proved to be the difference between the sides as Spurs kept their title hopes on track.

Palace put in another disciplined performance to frustrate Tottenham so it need a fine piece of skill to unlock the South Londoners.

The hosts started well with a Christian Benteke effort and Andros Townsend blasted over the bar. Meanwhile, Tottenham were lucky to still have 11 men on the pitch after Victor Wanyama avoided a second yellow card for a foul on Townsend.

Palace were dealt a blow in the 57th minute when Mamadou Sakho fell awkwardly with a nasty-looking leg injury and he had to be stretchered off. Damien Delaney replaced him the heart of the defence.

With Scott Dann and James Tomkins already out, Sakho is Palace's third centre half that's now injured.

Among a few half chances for Spurs, Dele Alli went agonisingly close to giving his team the lead but steered wide.

But on 78 minutes, Eriksen came to their rescue with a low, viscous, long-range strike into the bottom corner that Wayne Hennessey was unable to reach.

Palace remain 12th – seven points above the relegation zone – with Tottenham four points off leaders Chelsea.

Palace: Hennessey, Ward, Sakho (Delaney 57), Kelly, Schlupp, Milivojevic, McArthur (Cabaye 63), Zaha, Puncheon, Townsend, Benteke (Campbell 81).
