Peter May looks at the potential candidates for the top job at the Palace.

After Sam Allardyce decided to quit the Eagles last week, the bookies have been drawing up a long list of candidates who are likely to replace him. According to Paddy Power the following candidates are the favourites to be the King of the Palace.

Garry Monk (5/6 with Paddy Power)

The 38-year-old ex-Swansea City manager recently quit Leeds United after failing to reach an agreement over a contract extension. Leeds narrowly missed out on a play-off play in the Championship at the end of last season.

Roy Hodgson (3/1 with Paddy Power)

The Croydon born ex-England manager has managed sixteen different teams in eight countries, and could be tempted to return to the club that he was on the books of as a player in the 1960s.

Sean Dyche (11/1 with Paddy Power)

The Kettering born 45-year-old has been with Burnley since 2012 and will no doubt be subject to a large signing fee if Steve Parish opted to approach him for the role.

Slavisa Jokanovic (14/1 with Paddy Power)

The 48-year-old started his managerial career with Partizan in 2007, and most recently secured a play-off place for Fulham in the Championship. Fulham lost their Semi-final playoff game over two legs to Reading.

Jaap Stam (14/1 with Paddy Power)

The former Manchester United defender is currently at the helm at Reading, who lost narrowly to Huddersfield on penalties in the Championship play-off final.

Claudio Ranieri (16/1 with Paddy Power)

The 65-year-old Italian, has managed numerous clubs including Chelsea and Inter Milan, and was recently sacked by Leicester City. Won the title with the Foxes two seasons ago, but may not have much longer before he considers retirement.

Roberto Mancini (20/1 with Paddy Power)

The former Manchester City manager has been linked recently with a job at Zenit St. Petersburg. Parish might have a hard job convincing him to join the Eagles, but if he did, he might well join forces again with Palace legend Attilio Lombardo, who he worked with at City and Galatasaray.
