Crystal Palace put in a shambolic defensive display to lose 4-1 away at Arsenal.

The game was effectively over after 22 minutes when the Gunners fired in their fourth goal of the day to complete the double over their South London rivals.

Arsenal notched their first in the sixth minute when Granit Xhaka's corner found an unmarked Nacho Monreal at the far post to head low into the net after James McArthur lost him.

Four minutes later they added another as Timothy Fosu-Mensah gave the ball straight to Monreal, who fed Alex Iwobi, and he slotted beyond Wayne Hennessy.

And three minutes after that, the hosts scored their third goal of the day from another corner. Xhaka's flag kick found Monreal on the left, he set up Laurent Koscielny inside the six-yard box to score.

The fourth goal arrived on 22 minutes through good interplay between Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil on the edge of the box and ended with Alexandre Lacazette bending into the bottom corner.

Palace grabbed a 78th-minute consolation after Luka Milivojevic volleyed Christian Benteke's knock-down into the far corner for his fifth of the season.

To make matters worse, Yohan Cabaye was carried off on a stretcher with what looked like a knee injury in the last minute.
