Team news

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke continues to have treatment on a knee problem, so Jordan Ayew will again take up his role in attack.

Midfielder Jairo Riedewald had to go off injured during Palace's win at West Brom in the League Cup last week and is awaiting scan results on his leg.

Forward Connor Wickham and Scott Dann (both knee) are back in training as they step up a return to first-team action.

Bournemouth will give late fitness tests to defender Diego Rico (hamstring) and midfielder Dan Gosling (calf) before the fixture at Vitality Stadium. Defender Charlie Daniels is unlikely to play, while midfielder Kyle Taylor is still out.

Quotes

Roy Hodgson

"Bournemouth's start has been good, there is no doubt about that, with ten points from six games, which is a very good reward and they must be confident.

"They haven’t changed their team spectacularly, and their football has been pretty stable for the last two seasons, and it is a stable football and stable way of playing that gets them results, and they have no reason to change.

"We have a good idea what is awaiting us and it is a question - the big question - is are we good enough to deal with the threats they pose and then of course to make certain that our football gives us the chance to win the game.

"I think the morale has been good here anyway and has been good through pre-season and the start of the season. We have faith in what we are doing and we believe in what we are doing when we have the ball and when we don't have the ball.

"And we believe that with the work we do together on a day-to-day basis, we improve gradually. We never feel at any stage that we are the finished article, we know there is more work to be done."

Eddie Howe

"We've had some really entertaining games with Palace, they're a good squad with a good manager. I've got nothing but respect for Roy Hodgson. He deserved a lot of credit for keeping Palace up last year.

"[Wilfried] Zaha is a player that we need to be aware of, but they've also got excellent midfielders with a lot of experience, so we've got to manage it well.

"The schedule has worked out nicely for us and for Palace as well. We had a quick turnaround of games midweek and then we have a little break before we play again.

"We love playing under lights here, so the Monday night game I'm sure will have a really good feel and the supporters will really get behind the team. And we're live to the nation so we want to put on a really good show."
