Team news

Palace midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp returns to the squad after recovering from an ankle injury. Centre backs James Tomkins (groin), Mamadou Sakho (knee) are still missing, but new signing Gary Cahill could start after featuring for the U23s this week.

Manager Roy Hodgson must decided whether to begin with star man Wilfried Zaha after the attacker was on the bench against Everton last time out.

Blades striker Billy Sharp might have earned a starting role after coming off the bench with a goal to help claim a point at Bournemouth on the opening day.

New signing Oliver McBurnie and Everton loanee Muhamed Besic could be involved, but Lys Mousset and Ravel Morrison are still unavailable.

Roy Hodgson

"[The away form] is down to how open the game gets and the type of players that we have are suited to the counter-attacking game: opponents come forward and leave space behind and they're quite good at exploiting those spaces.

"Sometimes at Selhurst Park, because the players and the team have done quite well and you build up a reputation of a hard team to beat, sometimes the teams come here a bit more prudent in how they approach the game from when theyíre at home. It may just be as simple as that.

"We think there are more goals in the team than we were able to show last year, itís up to the players, who are our front players and goalscorers, to show that.

"I think as the season wore on we became better at scoring goals and taking our chances and Iím hoping that is going to continue and get even better this season."
