Defender Craig Harrison will be out of action for at least a year as a result of his horror injury last week.
Harrison suffered a double compound fracture of his left leg during the reserve game against Reading. It was feared that it could have meant the end of the ex-Middlesborough player's career.
However after surgery, the news has been encouraging although he will be out for at least a year.
Club physio George Cooper told the official Palace website: "It is anticipated at the moment that it will take about a year before he is back playing. He will have a lot of work to do in between though to regain his cardiovascular fitness and get the power and endurance back in his muscles."
