Trevor Francis said he is not interested in signing Brighton's highly-rated striker Bobby Zamora, because the price is too high.
Zamora, 21, has scored 24 goals for the Seagulls this season and has attracted interest from a host of clubs.
Francis is looking for cover for Dougie Freedman and Clinton Morrison and needs to replace Trevor Benjamin who returned to Leicester from his loan spell.
Leicester striker Ade Akinbiyi has recently been linked with a big money move to Selhurst Park.
But Francis said: "We haven't enquired about Zamora because we have a rough idea of the price and we won't pay it."
