Whenever reading an opinion piece, it's necessary to consider whose opinion it is, and who is prepared to publish it.

Spiked could, most kindly, be described as "conservative and libertarian". It has a history of taking up anti-environmental positions. It has been funded by the Charles Koch Foundation.

Tim Black is associated in that he is deputy editor of Spiked. He also opines in many journals, usually from fairly controversial positions. As he does here. The sub heading reads:-

"Mask obsessives just want to signal their superiority over the selfish, germ-spreading others."

That's plainly untrue. There aren't any "mask obsessives" that I am aware of. There are those who try to follow the rules, and understand why they are in place, and those who don't. That some people's attitude comes over as selfish, seems pretty clear and undeniable, but in calling it out trying to establish "superiority" as the motivation is nonsense. Acceptance and compliance is.

The 'one nation conservative' who appears to have an issue with a data source described as 'conservative and libertarian'.

After spending your time telling me that the positions of company funders doesn't mean anything suddenly it becomes a factor when it's sites you want to criticise.

We know that Bluejay thinks you are a 'good bloke' but I regard you as pathologically dishonest and while you are intelligent you aren't right in the head.

Then again, unless your immune system is weak the risk to life is low.

When the companies are regulated as closely as the Pharma industry is, broadly yes.

When the product is question is being used and tested by every major Government in the world, broadly yes.

Before the pandemic, when people were prescribed something by their doctor, no one worried that the Pharma company who made the drug might be lying, or the doctor themselves might be lying - I don't see why that has changed.

As previously stated it does no harm to read opinions with which you don’t agree - provided they’re not too extreme, I guess, but that’s in the eye of the beholder.
As regards “obsessives” I’ve met two or three who are almost paranoid to the extent you fear for their well being when this is finally over.

I knew a mask obsessive but in the end it didn't work for him.

He's doing 17 years in Wandsworth for bank robbery.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

It's a lot of information but I couldn't find anything actually concrete.

If you could actually link to a study that proved the contention that the unvaccinated significantly create more variants than someone vaccinated then I'm willing to believe it.

It seems logical to me that in reality variants will evolve regardless and their course will be to become more transmissible...until reaching a level....but also weaker.

Without this evolution stronger viruses would continue as the main strains.

For example, Spanish flu...is estimated to have killed more than the death toll in WW1, and in significantly less time...well it now still exists today, just as a weak strain that is far less deadly.

It seems logical that variants will evolve in the platforms of least resistance, that of the unvaccinated, which is exactly what has been happening.

Broadly? Ok.....when it comes to stuff they can get sued on I'd agree.

However, I think you have a refreshingly trusting level of faith in both the pharmaceutical industry and its regulation...Though obviously it would differ from country to country I think I watched a Russell Brand video the other day where he showed that this industry both lobbies and part funds regulation....the hand feeds the mouth, so to speak.

However, what I'm doubting here are figure ranges for these vaccines transmitting less than if you hadn't taken them.

It's not as if I'm saying vaccines don't work is it, because I'm not. I'm raising a specific point.

Where did I say I have an issue with it? All I said, it is useful to know. As is knowing that the Koch brothers have a connection. Not everything they do is controversial, but some is.

The reason was to put the sub heading into context. This is an opinion piece, with a pretty unusual opinion.

You seem incapable of avoiding ad hominems for very long.

They will evolve regardless.

It's not as though anything could stop that.

People are nervous it is all going to go backwards. After the last 18 months you can sympathise but actually all that is being done is applying the lessons learned. Go hard, go early, and then relax quickly if it proves unnecessary.

It wouldn't be the first time (by a long shot) a desease has been caused by the vaccine designed to cure it.
