At both Plymouth, and United, it was clear, that JRS, was probably not ready for the first team yet, not for the first time ,his lack of a reliable first touch and lightweight stature, were all to clear to see. These being two areas of development that must be right if he is to progress.
But hats off to him , he had something to prove because of those two games and he did just that against what was a very resolute Forrest defence, and not only in offence ,but his tracking and tackling back was not that far off of perfect as well.
It’s no good talking about finished articles, he is only twenty one and it will be a while before he is consistent, one swallow doesn’t make a summer, but this performance gives reason to believe all being well he can become a regular if not this season ,then soon.

I think that's it Pat.

Bit of following Mike Mentzer's advice, few games here and there to build confidence and he should start to improve. I'd imagine first touch will improve with confidence also.

Once he has shaken his nervousness and feels at home/more accustom to this level, especially with a full strength team behind him, we may see the full spectrum of what he can offer.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree with what you say, he is not really ready for the EPL and needs to have a run in the championship to sharpen up his match skills and improve his physicality. Whilst I wish him well it going to hard to to this, by keeping the bench warm each week for a few minutes here and there. According to research, the odds are not really in his favour as only 30% of all academy players who get handed a professional contract, of that latter group 1-10 then go on to make more than 20 appearances at all tiers of full time English professional football. It's a tough call and I wish him the best of luck!

Do you want to give him a chance, like Zaha, Moses, Mitchell. Or, do you want him to dissappear into another league? Back the lad, sink or swim, or would you rather have us pay for an expensive 'has-been'

We all want him to succeed but not meaning to be harsh now is the time for him to prove himself. He was 21 last week, still young but not a teenage prospect.

Assuming Olise and Franca get back fit, it'll make a lot of sense for Rak-Sakyi to spend January - May in a Championship side.

He'll get a bit of game time over the coming weeks but whatever happens, he need 20+ games this season and he'll be unlikely to get that volume at Palace when the injuries recover.

Even if we don't sign anyone, we have 4 attacking spots and Eze, Olise, Ayew, Franca, Edouard, Mateta, Schlupp would expect to be ahead of him.

26th January 2010 - Enter Administration
2nd May 2010 - D-Day 1 - Survival at Hillsborough
1st June 2010 - D-Day 2 - Survival at Lloyds
7th June 2010 - CPFC2010 exchange contracts.

He needs to do what AWB did, when he got his chance. Come in and be in droppable.
He’s in his 20s, we’ve got loads of attacking injuries, needs to do it now, or I doubt he will.

I would ignore his age (for now) - you can tell from his physique that his body is still quite immature and needs time to develop.

Someone like Rooney was fully developed at 16, whereas Palace have examples such as Southgate, who barely played in the 1st team until he was 22, and Ian Wright who for different reasons didn't play a game until 22. Both went on to play for their country.

However, with our current injuries he does need to take his chance, and i thought on Saturday he did okay.
He was our one bright spark.
For now an impact sub may be his best role.

Assuming injuries clear up and we buy 1 or 2 in Jan, a Championship loan seems a sensible next step for him.

Morgan Gibbs White was on loan in the Championship at the age of 22. Gallagher and Mount were there at the age of 20.

Guess it depends what doing 'it' means - AWB had a phenomenal season and went to Man Utd for £50m which is very rare.

Rak-Sakyi could have a very successful career at Palace as Ayew's successor given Ayew is 33 at the start of next season - play across the front 3, solid player for us, doesn't ever threaten the Champions League transfer market. I think expecting him to jump from League 1 to the PL and instantly be undroppable is asking a heck of a lot, especially as many big money summer signings that are new to the PL often take months to settle in.

You’re putting Franca straight in the team above Rak-Sakyi. You do realise Franca is only 19 years old in a strange country and never kicked a ball outside Brazil.

You might be incorrectly assuming that he never swapped the golden sands of Copacabana Beach for a five a side on Bognor Regis beach whilst staying at Butlins?!

He only went along on that holiday for the carnival atmosphere and beautiful women in Bognor apparently, not for footballing reasons.
