couldn't see this anywhere else.
Budget-priced concrete used in the construction of Government buildings
"More than 100 schools must shut fully or partially due to risky reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC)."

This was done under the tenure of different Governments of different flags over perhaps the last 30 years.

The thing that bugs me, is that the Government are already making promises.
"Jeremy Hunt has said the government "will spend what it takes" to make schools safe from crumbly concrete. The Treasury says Mr Hunt's promise does not mean any new money outside of current budgets." (BBC website)

The thing is, the Government don't know how many buildings are affected, and the severity of the problems. They can't possibly know anything until the problem buildings are identified, problems quantified, and remedial action taken (including temporary relocation of personnel)
As an engineer, my main concerns are that any risks are quickly identified and nullified, and that any remedial action undertaken is done properly and not on a budget sticking-plaster model.

This whole problem seems to originate from Governments cutting corners and costs, let's not repeat the fiasco for more expensive problems further down the line.

Tory ministers were ‘dangerously complacent’ on school safety, says whistleblower.

Senior civil servant says ‘many alerts’ crossed education secretary’s desk, but UK government was more concerned with saving money.

How many public buildings are affected including hospitals.

Plus the crisis in the sky emphasises our serious infrastructure problems.

Crumbling schools and services the tory years in a nutshell.

I live in a 1970's block of flats. Does anyone know if they used it in private builds?

In other words the Blair government should have started a programme of replacement and repair that should have continued after 2010 under the coalition and subsequent Tory regime.
Everyone has kicked the can down the road but apparently it is just a problem created by the Tories!
I hate politics and politicians.

Could well be. This stuff was everywhere as you could part fabricate off site and it was light and cheap so buildings could be built quickly.

I reckon this could be a pretty big issue. An asbestos for the modern age

The wider narrative is that the powers that be, behind the scenes, need Labour to get a MASSIVE majority if they are going drag us back into the EU. Therefore any and every story has to be linked to Tory mismanagement (which they are fully guilty of btw).

These stories are all about timing. Here we are on the cusp of the political year starting again (August is the month they all bugger off on holiday).

With the actual big news being that the economics of the UK are actually better than we have been told, especially with regards to to Europe.

So the narrative focus has to be shifted. And what better way to do so than make it about poor kids having roofs falling down?

Now don't get me wrong. Not only are the Tories s***, they are doing everything in their power to be even s***tier, but this story is not about them.

But it is what people will be focused on the next week. Which is the point of it all

It’s almost similar to what’s happening across the pond

They all attend the same conferences and share the same global goals.....in short cucking to whatever America thinks.

What was Starmer saying the other month? That he preferred going to the WEF than his own parliament or question time something like that.

These people are not worthy of their positions. They are not the best people either ethically or in competence.

The Tories are globalist careerist traitors continually moving left and only concerned with power and not the nation and Labour are all that but with the added truth that they are a bunch of tick box loonies.

It's not a question of which direction we are travelling in....but only a question of how fast.

At this point it's probably better to have idiots like Starmer in just to expose to all the midwits just how terrible their politics are in action.....because these luxury commies think that it's only others who'll have to pay.
