Crystal Palace were comprehensibly beaten 3-0 at home to Newcastle United.
A rampant Newcastle, who enjoyed away victories at Tottenham and Manchester United recently, were too strong for a below-par Eagles.
Yohan Cabaye fired the Magpies into the lead after 25 minutes thanks to good work from Moussa Sissoko who cut inside Maroune Chamakh on the right and found Cabaye whose shot went in via a slight deflection.
Six minutes before the break, Newcastle extended their advantage as Mathieu Debuchy's fizzing cross was turned into his own net by Danny Gabbidon's outstretched boot.
Eagles boss Tony Pulis took off Dean Moxey and Barry Bannan for the second half, with Jonathan Parr (for his first game of the season) and Yannick Bolasie coming on.
Speroni had to be alert to push out a Cabaye free-kick before an unmarked Cameron Jerome should have pulled a goal back from six yards but skied over.
Speroni saved again from Cabaye, while substitute Hatem Ben Arfa's curler struck the woodwork and then he later drew a top save out of Speroni.
However, he eventually got on the score sheet from the penalty spot in the 86th minute to make it 3-0 after Parr felled SHOLA AMEOBI in the box.
