Following the first 3/4 of the season where we all just wanted to see the season end. Has there ever been a bigger turn around in the fortunes of a team so completely?

The last couple of months has been the best I have ever seen us play in my lifetime. I will always think highly of the mighty team that finished 3rd in 91 and lifted the Zenith cup (it means something to me if nobody else, was a great game).
But this team under OG is something else, something very special. We have an air of assured strength at the back and in the middle and utter quality going forward.

I remember dreading and writing off games against the big boys but right now if that was us playing City necktie week in the cup final I would honestly fancy our chances. I certainly don’t think we would fear anybody. When was that ever the case for Palace.

I am gutted the season has stopped. I wish England had an attack minded forward thinking manager who fears nobody going into the euros. If Southgate has any sense he will let the outstanding players England have right now lose like OG has done for us.

I really do think Parish will fend off the advances of bigger clubs for our jewels. I think it’s funny that already the rags are saying Wharton is a clear target and going to leave, the letters have barley stuck on his shirt and he is already been touted by the press as moving here and there. Leave it out.

If we do keep these players together and bring in a couple of additions then I think next year is going to be special. I hate to wish my life away but it’s only about 12 weeks until the start of the season.

Have a great summer fellow eagles… over to Dazza and the transfer posts.

COYP!!

Our finish to the season reminds me of the way relegation threatened Leicester finished season 2014/2015 with a flourish.

The following season they won the Premier League. I just thought I'd mention it.

Dowies promotion season was quite a turn around, from getting beat 5-0 at Wigan and in the relegation zone at Christmas to promotion.

Also warnock taking us from the relegation zone to the play offs

It really is something special.

Keeping the squad together is top priority.

Recruitment is also super important this summer, we'll have injuries next season, so need to have a plan b if EE, MO, JPM get injured.

Ayew and Jeff can step in, but you don't want them playing a huge amount. Are Franca and JRS good enough, jury is out.

And Bayer Leverkusen. A similar story.

So many improvements across the board, I'm still in shock!

We only really need to bring in back up for Mitchell, Mateta and a new CB. I imagine Marc Guehi could move on and Edouard should find a spot somewhere else.

With Doucore back and Franca fit, we have 2 players who will be like new signings, hopefully Franca can show us his potential - he showed brief glimpses of electric pace under Roy.

Best Ever ...

Prize money - 10th Place is worth £34.3m

If we had scraped by in 17th place as seemed possible at one point, not so long ago, that would have been £12.5m in prize money

The extra £22m will make a significant difference in the Profit and Sustainability calculations

A truly astonishing turnaround. From what I can see, if his first proper game was the 3-0 win against Burnley, our record was P13, W7, D3, L3 after he came in. So that's 24 points, 48% of our season's total, in just 13 games.

It was the change that we all knew needed to happen as things had become very stale and I do shudder to think where me might have ended up without him.

I'm 38 now so started following us properly in the mid 90s, I'm trying to think how many players from that period of time would get into this team. I honestly don't even know if peak Zaha gets in ahead of Eze or Olise right now. Murray, AJ or Mateta? That's a tough one. Everyone has played out of their skin for the last couple of months.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Best ever......without question in my mind, and I first watched the Palace with my Dad in the late 50s. Stunning football.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

The last time I had the level of expectation for us to win games comfortably as I have now was well into when we had Wright and Brighton up front. I didn't believe it at first - it took a few months to get used to it. I don't think I'm used to this yet. I didn't want the season to end. I guess we'll have to see next season. Extrapolate the points we've been getting under Glasner to next season and we'd be on well over 60 points. I make it roughly 65. Certainly in some European position.

I have been prompted to think back to some of my favourite Palace games. I thought I’d start with the 5-0 against Man U in December 1972 with Don Rogers scoring 2 of them. That was a game to savour. But, although (with thanks to the ‘Complete History’) we won the next home game 3-0 there were only 4 more home wins after that and 3 losses and 4 draws at Selhurst Park and we ended up being relegated. So, although I loved our forward line of Rogers, Whittle and Possee, they didn’t sustain the high standard consistently enough.

There is no doubt that our current front three have been a joy to watch and really much better than the 1972 era. But it isn’t just the front three, what a player Adam Wharton is! And the high pressing and forcing of errors is a real team effort.

I am almost lost for words at the transformation.

I think it shows what a difference a top class manager and his coaching team can make. Yes, you have to have the players and we had them before Glasner arrived, but they were never allowed to play like this as a proper team, where players support each other both with and without teh ball..
