But that's monetary policy and not fiscal policy, which is why they're in debt. It's more the monetary policy they can't control or rely on Germany to budge on to get them out of it. So since Greece, are there any written rules, and not just verbal, on EU members and fiscal discipline?

I just finished Yanis Varoufakis' book about the EU and found it very interesting. Learning about the power dynamics and legality of the EU is something I feel everyone on all sides could do with. How much does he admit his own economy's irresponsible mismanagement, including almost everyone except normal, humble PAYE workers? Pretty pointless trying to make moralistic stands when everyone is at whatever, but some professionals took tax dodging to an extreme, then fled.

According to Michael Heseltine the blame culture on the EU for our mistakes was started deliberately by Mrs.Thatcher. She wanted to have a third party to blame for Nigel Lawson's disasters and was quite straightforward in the need for that, but she didn't want it to be from the UK. Brussels was the perfect target and so the blame culture was started and has been so successful. You only have to look at posts here to see that everything is the fault of the EU it is a complete brainwashing.

It's only really since the middle of the last decade that people have noticed any effect on their lives and made any noises over the EU. Nobody, 25 years ago+ could've predicted or would've agreed, if asked, to high immigration levels from Eastern Europe. When stats claim it's mainly for sovereignty and democratic reasons I'm not sure if I believe that. Possibly some shame of being concerned about immigration and being labelled xenophobic or racist. Maybe a case of look after own first, and that's because of immigration we aren't.
