Yes Indeed you're right in what you say, but what's good for the goose etc. Imagine being a supporter of say St Pauli or even Dulwich Town & having to hear a hardcore minority espousing left wing politics on the terraces in which you didn't particularly agree with?

Look, I'm a committed leftie, but I agree with all the posters on this thread (whether they're left or right wing) that we should leave politics behind when we walk through the turnstiles at Palace. We all have our own views, but at the end of the day the only thing that matters at Selhurst on a matchday is that we're all Palace. I don't want to see us become a politicised club on either side of the spectrum - we're a club for South London's working class, whether they're black, white, Labour, Tory, left wing or right wing. End of.

Just wondered why no one here has considered the Neighbors. What would the local people think when they hear 'Chants of TOMMY ROBINSON' coming out loud and clear from the Crystal Palace stadium, have a look around at the folks living here and I'm sure you will agree that hardly any would be amused. I've lived in Oliver Grove, where every chant is loud and clear as it was when I lived on South Norwood Hill. And you could hear every Goal from as far away as Ecclesboune Road when I lived there as and my misses told me. 'This Freedom of Speach' mantra is being stretched too far methinks in this arena. COYP

COYP There is much I could say and argue about this but in respect of this particular situation I think we generally as a Palace family have reached the same conclusion. We don't come to football matches to hear Robinson or indeed any political chants. It's out of place, divisive and a distraction. I don't support punishing people but I do encourage them to leave the politics at the turnstile as pretty much all of us do.

COYP I disagree, you cannot ever stretch freedom of speech too far. But you can certainly stretch the excuses for gagging it too far.

I think there's consensus to leave ALL politics, left, right, green & loony, at the turnstiles. That would be pleasant for everyone, no?
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

Interesting thread and I'd say it is good to debate these things, that's what this forum is for. You can't keep politics out of football, politics is life and its everywhere. I have a question, given the current ongoing debate in the wider football world surrounding racism, can anyone tell me what Palace as a club are doing to campaign and kick racism out of football? Is the club doing anything positive to proactively take part in wider campaigns and support for example the PL's 'No Room For Racism'? Thanks

They have been very active right from the start of the kick racism out of football campaign - and why wouldn't they, given how many BME people there are both in the club and the support?
