It is a difficult situation and one that needs to handled carefully. Proven EPL players on free transfers i.e. Cahill give you a proven player though you can expect to pay decent wages. Bringing in unproven but potentially good EPL players is a risk i.e. Eze. He has shown some great things but also some naivety in the defensive side of his game. Get the balance wrong and it could end in relegation. Will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next few months. I really want to see PVA and Schlupp sign new contracts as they are 2 with real pace along with Zaha. It looks like Fulhan, WBA and Sheffield Utd are doomed and there are some good players spread across these clubs that we might be able to sign. Never happens. They either keep or are snapped up by other clubs with deeper pockets. Bad thing? Yes and no. The prices are nearly always inflated beyond their value e.g. Sarr. Our club is too canny/mean for that market.

Undoubtedly Wilf is a serious talent, but his petulant behaviour is his achilles heel, fact. People are right in saying he's our star player, and has played a massive part in getting us where we are. But everytime he spits his dummie out and looses focus for 10, 20, 30+ minutes it has a negative effect on the whole team. It amazes me that he seems to loose his rag more and more. Against Newcastle he sat down and lost it with the tape he had round his ankle, the ref walked over and almost looked embarrassed for him! Other teams know exactly what to do to push his buttons. Surely someone at the club must highlight this to him, and help him work on it? Surely his family and friends must also pull him up on it? Has Wilf got to a point where he thinks he's too important to take advise from others? If he could use his 'passion' to spur him on, instead of loose his rag, he'd be a phenomenal footballer.
I'm a little bit backwards |

Probably, his petulant childish behaviour which has increasingly become an unwelcome feature of his game, has prevented a so called big club coming in for him and to that extent, he is the author of his own misfortune.

Wasn't this, at least partly, due to the fact that he realised he had done himself an injury? I don't disagree with you on his petulant nature.

Friend of mine said to me can you imagine what Wilf would be like if he wasn’t marked by 3 players every time he got a sniff of the ball. The curious thing is the top eight obviously don’t agree. I just hope they don’t become any more curious. He’s like Mickie Shannon, Le Tissier etc. Made for one club.

Now don't get me wrong, I love the guy, he's a serious talent, one of our greatest, but.... It's like the older he gets the more immature he becomes. Sad but true, and it's preventing him becoming our, or anyone else's greatest. he is already our best ever player. not sure what would make you think otherwise

It was refreshing to see Jack Grealish on Football Focus yesterday saying that when he’s kicked by the opposition he treats it as a compliment and it doesn’t bother him. I wish Wilf would be a bit more like that, as has been said he is peed off for 20 or 30 minutes at a time in every game these days...

Wilf also sits there sulking and protesting for twenty seconds whilst the game moves on without him. Get on with it, get back in position and play your part again.
