What people don't appreciate about Benteke is what else he brings, other than goals. His hold up play is good, he plays wall passes that gets others in. He is solid at defending corners. He doesn't moan and roll about. He gets up and carries on. And now, with his confidence restored, his shooting and heading is
back to where it used to be.

Maybe he knows he is going but it's not obvious as the effort is still there. So I hope he resigns and with the partnership he is building with Eze we see him having a great season next year.

If we can get Wilf's head right again and playing as a team member and not a frustrated wannabe galatico then it could be fun.

I have to challenge some of your comments. IMHO his hold up play is pretty awful. He rarely wins a header, rarely anticipates where the ball will go so is often slow to react and is often offside.

Other than the lack of goals this is the most disappointing aspect of his play. I expected him to be backing in and out muscling defenders (like Murray used to) yet i rarely see this with Tekkers.

As for defending corners please go back to the 5-4 defeat at Swansea when Tekkers lost his marker 3 times. Since then he is never used as a marker but stands on the corner of the 6 yard box to get that first header away. As he can't be trusted to mark a man we lose one of our taller players at corners and are vulnerable at set pieces (one of the highest goals conceded in Prem)

I know this is all about opinions but I think you must have been watching different games to me, and I watch them all. He wins lots of headers played up from the defence. Not always cleanly and not always well directed but providing enough time to allow for regrouping and taking a breath. His physical strength is what gets him into those situations. He clears more corners than most of the other defenders but he is a forward. Man marking is not his skill.

Should we lose him then I am sure we will notice a gap next year.
