Don't know if anyone else has noticed but every arena, stadium, event in Rio seem to be half empty. Something has to be wrong, I remember how hard it was to get tickets for London and every event was packed.

We are being given the sanitised version of the games but there is a lot of unrest over the price of hosting the Olympics, the price of tickets and the general poverty of the average person in Brazil.
If you watch Euronews you might see some of it.

How much were tickets to the 100 metre final and how much does the average Brazilian earn?

There are some fit and poor birds there, to completely change the subject.

The tickets for locals are too expensive, and they charge tourists even more.

Their security is so slow that ticket holders are getting into venues much later than they'd planned to.

They don't care for many sports in the Olympics other than football, volleyball and basketball and aren't having unexpected successes elsewhere which generates a spike in interest/sales.

It will be interesting to see how much support is given to the Paralympics by the Brazilian public. I fear it will be very little.

The advert on the tele is mad - do they really strap people to wheelchairs and see how far they can fly? It just seems crazy - where do they land? I could look it up I guess but I know that General talk always comes up with better answers.

They're not bad at it so they might turn up. The Football events, volleyball and swimming are their best hopes.

Can see the athletics looking sparse in a stadium that large though.

I am watching the early session of athletics at the moment and there is a paltry attendance.

The Irish Olympic Chief has got them all.

Funny that he fell ill after being arrested by the police.

Brazilians don't like Sport, they like winning. This is obvious when most people competing against a Brazilian get booed.

A load of the boxing results have been farcical with Putin's mate IOC President Thomas Bach present at fights where the Russians have got highly questionable unanimous decisions for their fighters.

Here's one boxer calling him out:
