Asian Hornets

This is a direct threat to the existence of our native honeybees. These hornets target our smaller bees and bite their heads off to take back to their nest and feed their larvae. If allowed to settle they will wipe out our honeybees just like the grey squirrel has done to our native red squirrel and the Red Signal Crayfish has done to our native White-Clawed Crayfish etc. Not only that... some plant species like Japanese Knotweed are taking hold in our countryside killing off native plants. If we don't take action our countryside (what's left of it after massive building projects for new homes) will not resemble the UK that I grew up in during the 50's and 60's.

We don't really have a choice in the matter, once they're here it's almost impossible to completely eradicate them. They've been in France and now they're coming to the south of England. Too cold for them up north though.

We should breed even bigger British hornets. They would be coloured red white and blue and their buzz would resemble the opening lines to God Save the Queen. Edited by johnno42000 (07 Oct 2016 12.14pm)

I was reading how they are putting pine martens in areas where the greys are encroaching on the reds and having some success. pine martens are very aggressive to greys and have been know to hunt them , but leave the reds alone.

no but obviously the European borders are a bit porous that's why they are getting here The French have allowed the Asian Hornets to build huge nests in Calais near the entrance to the Chunnel. Our Border Guards in Calais have been overwhelmed and are not spotting them hitch a ride in HGV's.
