Venezuela: "inspiration to all of us fighting back against austerity and non-liberal economics in Europe" (Corbyn); Venezuela has demonstrated it's no longer necessary to accept a failed economic model" (Milne); Europe might want to learn the obvious lessons from Venezuela" (McCluskey); "Venezuela showed another way of doing politics" (Abbott); "Venezuela is conquering poverty by rejecting neo-liberal policies" (Corbyn). Inflation at 800%, blackouts, shortages, deaths from hunger, violence on the streets, freedoms curtailed.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

Its gone pretty "quite" on the right, hasn't it? 1.Putin...he certainly has shown "another way of doing politics" and f..ing up a country in the process 2.Saudi Arabia....dictatorship only being criticised by certain posters if they are of the left 3.Belarus.....Evil dictator for years...never enters the minds of certain posters on here 4. Poland/Hungary.Dodgy right wing nationalist regimes.. 5.Turkey.Good top see Trump cosying up recently to the authoritarian right wing nationalist leader of the land which jails more journalists than any other (or nearly any other). Lovely Jubbly

Which is no response to my point,Judge. Chavez did some very good things IMHO.The successor regime has descended into something I cannot support.I am sure CIA-sponsored destabilisation (just see 20th century L American history)has nothing to do with it. I have no problem saying what is going on in Venezuela by the Government (and others) now is well dodgy. In contrast, you guys give the appearance of completely overlooking similar concerns relating to authoritarian regimes on the right... Labour’s shadow foreign secretary has said Venezuela’s government has a duty to answer concerns about Nicolás Maduro’s “increasingly authoritarian rule”. Bet you didn't blink when Maggie praised that infinitely worse dictator Allende
