I had wet spam down for a draw this evening so a 1-5 defeat puts them firmly in fight.

I now have 4 points between 6 teams for the 2nd and 3rd spots (with saints down).

It could be another 4 or 5 games before those teams get to our current 30 point position.

They are running out of games to catch us.

Agreed and after we secure another three points with a predicted win at Leeds on Sunday, their task becomes even harder!!

West ham will survive.

Happy to see them battered though.

Not according to him. He claims he's got the backing of the board. When's that been known to fail?

The standings are so tight that if any team wins 2 matches in a row, they would immediately be almost safe from relegation. So it's going to be a crap shoot to some degree the rest of the way.

We have the advantage of being 3 points ahead, plus the advantage of playing weaker teams the rest of the way. But it's possible that won't translate into points, especially with Wilf out for a month.

There's always going to be a surprise team that catches fire and wins 3-4 matches to stay up easily. And there will always be one team that fails to win much of anything rest of the way. I'd love to see So'ton, West Ham, and Everton go down, but realistically, I doubt WHU or Everton will drop. And So'ton always seems to pull a Houdini and manage to escape.

If we had Wilf healthy, I would feel really good about our chances. Without him, I can't feel that great. I think if we get draws against our rivals without him in April, that is a good result. If we manage to nick another win, that would be so huge.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

Looking at the games left, Palace (7), Bournemouth (six) and Leicester(5) will have the biggest shout on who goes down.

The numbers in brackets are number of relegation dog fights they each have.

A draw in those for teams who already have points on the board is a good result. i.e. Us! But the other two sides need wins in those games to catch up.

Teams with games against the top sides are also at a disadvantage. Leeds west ham and southampton have 4 each. That may not sound a lot but with 9 games left that's nearly half their games!!!

West Ham also have 4 relegation dog fights. They will need to get their points from those games. Bournemouth, us, leeds and leicester, of those only leeds is at home.

I can see west ham going down or surviving by the skin of their teeth!!!

I currently have southampton, forest, bournemouth for the drop. But its tight between 5 for that last spot.
