I'm not quite sure what you believe the extract proves. To me it says that the UK can't control immigration from the EU, except in defined circumstances. Haven't you therefore confirmed the point Hrolf was making?

The UK doesn't control immigration from the EU because Mrs May as Home Secretary declined to enact EU directives which allowed her to do so.

As for views I observe, I don't just watch those that I agree with.....only the closed minded do that. I probably agree with 10 percent of what Galloway says but he's one of the few highly intelligent and charismatic speakers on the left.....I listen to Jimmy Dore as well. There is a clue in the wording "freedom of movement". No EU national is questioned at the point of entry by Border Control because they have been under instructions not to (long before May became HS, under Labour as well) to facilitate the entry of all EU nationals. We were banned by the EU from having a seperate passport queue for British passport holders "because we are all EU Citizens". EU nationals do not need a passport to travel, an ID card is sufficient, some of which are truly awful (Italian ID cards issued at local offices cost about 7-10 Euros, they are far and away the most forged document encountered). I think after 28 years working for Border Force I know what I am talking about
